throw the west door open wide
emblazoned by the setting Sun
Red Mountain is speaking:

first you must cross the desert
take off your shoes
for this is holy ground

raise up all the shades, push the east windows
from their moorings
that the wild things spreading glory outside
may stretch their branches and their roots
and may drop their seeds inside your tiny space
filling all your rooms with fragrance and heat

let the rivers flow where they will
they cannot be moved
from their courses
soon they will bring you melodies
and harmony to soothe your wandering

when the winds persist in scattering
your roof beyond your seeing
when your walls crumble back into dust

the home you seek
will have found you
wanting no more

gold to keep


it is a cherished possession
sparkling in sunlight
look it is here, it is there
mine it, own it, clasp it
to your breast
hide it from thieves and
snooping relatives

but it is merely fools gold
a lump of nothing
but false pride
and fear

open your grasping fingers
Water warm and pure
will cleanse the wound
nourish your emptiness
Light will reveal more
treasure than your fields
may produce
or your barns hold captive

your Heart
like a sieve
longs
to fill 
and empty
