Quiet Words

Life moves in its own miraculous way, sometimes baffling to us, sometimes causing anxiety.
Always perfect. Always guided by Spirit. Always for our greatest good.
A friend along the way who understands is a priceless treasure.

Quiet Words

-for d.k.

Our parallel walk began eons ago
we were infant souls meeting
instant recognition
soul sisters sharing stories of children, lovers,
dreams and inspiration,
few words,
knowing

She reminds me to listen
to the silent words
Spirit sends to my heart,
to invite Eva to commune
in quiet words,
trusting

Have faith, be grateful, let go,
she tells me when I am weak
when I fall she lifts me up
and living continues,
grace-filled as
quiet words,
cherished

I love that you wrote this on my daughter's birthday Phyllis. It reminds me of what I learned raising her - she was the child who was opposite me in temperament (or so it seemed at the time) and who I found I was chastising more often than not. It turns out that less was more with her - the more I scolded, the less effect it had. Looking back, I should/could/would have listened to quiet words myself, some that were contained within me, if I had only stopped to listen. She, as it turns out, listened much more often to quieter words spoken less often. It seems for me that wisdom contained deep within me is often the hardest to access or honor. Your second writing today reminds me as well of the importance of having a sister/friend/mother (and who embodies all three) who walks alongside and reminds us of who we really are and as one saying goes, "sings our song to us when we no longer hear it."
